 POOL PARTY

To make the school environment pleasant for the children in this hot summer season, a pool party for pre-primary wing was organized on 15th April, 2024 in Sandalwood School premises.During the party, children played and enjoyed various fun games along with the music . The teachers made the party memorable by using various props around it like a swing, goggles, umbrella, soft toy etc. to decorate the garden like a beach. 

 

RED COLOUR DAY CELEBRATION

To introduce the kids into the mesmerizing realm of colours Sandalwood School celebrated “Red Colour Day” on 12th April 2024.Red, the colour of blood and fire, is associated with meanings of love, sensitivity, positivity, joy, strength, leadership and determination. It symbolizes action, confidence, and courage.
The tiny tots looked stunning in their red outfits. The shades of red made the Kids feel bright, lively and cheerful.

Poster Making Activity 

(Theme – Republic Day)

On 29th January 2024, a Poster Making Activity based on the theme “Republic Day”
was organized in the Sandalwood School Premises. All the students from class I to XI participated in the event actively.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION

“A NATION’S CULTURE RESIDES IN THE HEARTS AND IN THE SOUL OF ITS PEOPLE.”

The 75th Republic Day of India was celebrated at Sandalwood School on 26 January 2024 with a great deal of patriotic zeal and fervor. The celebration commenced with the welcome of our Honourable Director Dr. (Mrs.) Nirmal Sharma , Respected Secretary Mr.Shashi Bhushan Sharma and the Principal Mrs.Veena Gupta.
First of all, the Flag Hoisting Ceremony followed by the National Anthem took place.
After unfurling the National Tricolour ,
Dr. (Mrs.) Nirmal Sharma , Respected Secretary Mr.Shashi Bhushan Sharma and the Principal Mrs.Veena Gupta extended a warm welcome to the assembled students and teachers respectively.
To mark the importance of this day, a small cultural programme was organized in the school premises by the students.
In the end, sweets were distributed to all.

CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR CELEBRATION 

Christmas and New Year celebration was held on 23rd December 2023, in the school quadrangle. The school was beautifully decorated. The programme started with information about Christmas and why it is celebrated. A beautiful skit depicting the scenes of the birth of Jesus Christ was presented along with melodious carols sung by the choir.
The event ended with cheerful Christmas and New Year greetings as the students danced to the melodious tunes of ‘Jingle Bells’ and ‘ We wish you a merry Christmas’, and ‘Happy New Year’. The dazzling entry of Santa Claus added to the joy and excitement of the students. The boundless joy of celebrating the festival was visible on the faces of all the children. It was a joyous and amusing programme for everyone.

DRAWING AND COLORING COMPETITION

The creative drawing competition for classes Play Group to II was organized in the Sandalwood school on 29th September 2023. All the children actively participated in the competition. The children had an enjoyable time drawing and showcasing their creativity.
The main objective of this event was to ignite the creative side of the children’s mind and help develop their fine motor skills and also encourage their interest in drawing.

DENGUE AWARENESS

With the aim of combating the deadly disease Dengue, on 26th September 2023 ,Sandalwood School teachers spread awareness among the students by telling them Preventive Measures for Dengue. All the students and teachers of the school showed concern by joining hands against the terror of Dengue.

INTER-HOUSE CHESS COMPETITION

“Every chess master was once a beginner.”
Sandalwood School hosted the Inter-House Chess competition to provide a platform to its students to improve their logical thinking, analytical reasoning and problem-solving. Young budding students from Grades VI to XI participated in the Inter-House Chess Competition on 23rd June 2023. The highly enthusiastic students were all geared up to beat their opponents in nail-biting matches.

INTRA CLASS ENGLISH STORY TELLING COMPETITION

An Intra Class English Story Telling Competition was conducted for the students of grade III to V on
23rd September, 2023 in Sandalwood school to enhance the confidence and speaking skills of the
students. The students narrated the moral based stories. Each story concluded with moral highlighting
different values of life. Enacting various characters of the stories helped them to evolve their young
minds with valuable morals and ignited their creative skills.

INTER HOUSE KHO-KHO COMPETITION

Sandalwood School conducted the Inter House Kho-Kho Competition Semi Final matches on 19 September 2023.Finals were played on 20th September, 2023.Students participated in a sportive spirit with a great zeal. They wonderfully showcased the basics concerned about the sport -Building fitness, engaging in self defence and increasing concentration.
All four houses (Aravali, Himalaya, Shivalik & Vindhyachal) had their teams ready for the event. All the players put their Best efforts to make their team victorious.Himalaya House in Junior Boys & Senior Boys, Shivalik House in Senior girls and Aravali
House in Junior girls emerged as the winners of the final matches. The winning teams and the participant teams were cheered by the staff and students as well.

POSTER MAKING ACTIVITY

Sandalwood School had organised a Poster Making Activity on 15 September, 2023 under Swachhta
Pakhwada. The theme of the poster presentation was  Water Conservation  and  Reduce , Reuse ,Recycle
One could see and feel the enthusiasm that the students had in their presentation. The activity kept the
students engaged and gave them the platform to explore their creativity and to showcase their skills.

INTER-HOUSE SALAD MAKING COMPETITION 

An Inter-House Salad Making competition was held at Sandalwood on 22 July, 2023 in which students participated enthusiastically.

The purpose of the competition was to inculcate healthy food habits and awareness regarding the choice of food among the students.

Students from four houses namely Aravali, Himalaya, Shivalik and Vindhyachal participated in the competition using commonly available fruits, vegetables and sprouts. The participants of each House explained the speciality of their salad and also the importance of including salad in our regular diet for maintaining good health and keeping the diseases away.

The main focus of the competition was not only to prepare salad but also its benefits in today’s life. Equal emphasis was upon the hygienic considerations which were to be kept in view while preparing and dressing the final product. The participants’ creativity was revealed through the beautiful designs and patterns formed with different mouth watering salads.

 

VEGETABLE SHOW

‘To eat is a necessity but to eat intelligently is an art’

To make our tiny tots understand that vegetables are an essential component of a healthy diet for physical growth and sound health, a vegetable show was set up for the Children of class Play Group to II on 22 July , 2023
They came in costumes of brinjal, potatoes, ladyfinger, tomatoes, spinach, carrot etc. and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

The ‘Vegetable Day’ was aimed at educating children about the importance of vegetables.

The school offers the children the opportunity to explore the broad range of knowledge and skills that lay the right foundation for good progress.

 

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION 

On 15 August, 2023 , Independence Day was celebrated at Sandalwood School with great joy and pomp. The sense of happiness and pride could be clearly seen on the faces of all the students as they were celebrating 77th Independence Day of India.

The program started with the Flag Hoisting Ceremony by Honourable Director and Respected Secretary Sir followed by the National Anthem. After that, students sang “Saare Jahan Se Achha Hindustan Hamara” and “Hum Honge Kamyab Ek Din” songs.
The Honourable Director Dr.(Mrs.) Nirmal Sharma addressed the gathering and told how we got freedom, in what ways India is progressing.
An Inter House Patriotic Song Competition was also held in the Sandal Wood School Premises.The children showcased a sense of pride for their country. The programme was judged by the Director of the school .
Among four Houses i.e. Aravali, Himalaya, Shivalik and Vindhyachal. Himalaya House was declared as the Winning House.
The program ended by giving sweets and chocolates to all the students and teachers as well.

 
 

MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATION 

Mother’s day is a special day, for all children and mothers as it celebrates the bond of love and affection that is everlasting.

“When you are looking at your mother, you are looking at the purest love you will ever know.”

On 13 May, 2023 Mother’s Day was celebrated in Sandalwood School with great zeal. On this students expressed their deep feelings and great love for their mothers through speeches, poems, thoughts, songs etc.
All the students made Greeting Cards/Posters on Mother’s Day.

 

YOGA WORKSHOP 

Meditation is relaxation and rejuvenates the body and mind. With this aim in mind, a Yoga Workshop for the students and teachers of Sandalwood School was conducted on 13/05/23 (Saturday) .
A few minutes of Yoga during the day can be a great way to get rid of stress that accumulates daily, in both, body and the mind. Yoga postures, Pranayama and meditation are effective techniques to release stress.

The session began by seeking the blessings of the Almighty by chanting the Gayatri Mantra. Asanas starting with warming up and stretching were followed by a series of Padmasana, Sukhasan, Tadasana, Bhujangasana and ending with deep breathing followed by chanting of “Om “. Exercises for relieving stress, reducing joint pain and enhancing the flexibility of the back were also done for the benefit of the teachers.

The Principal Mrs. Sapna Kapoor, motivated the staff and conveyed the importance of making yoga an integral part of our daily life by extending the practice of yoga beyond the mat.
The session was very refreshing, reviving and relaxing.

 
 
POOL PARTY 
A pool party was organised at Sandalwood School for the students of Class Play Group to UKG on 29 April, 2023. The kids had a gala time, tapping their little hands and feet, bubbling and splashing water all around. Kids enjoyed the party with excitement and enthusiasm in their colourful swimsuits, splashing water at their friends and playing with floating toys. All teachers of the Nursery and KG wing and other staff members were present at the poolside for the safety of kids.
Various water toys added flavour to their enjoyment.
Parents also danced and enjoyed themselves with their children.
Different songs of parent’s choice were played.
The water play was followed by a Party Lunch.

INTER-HOUSE FRESH OR DRY FLOWER ARRANGEMENT COMPETITION 

Inter – House Fresh or Dry Flower Arrangement Competition was conducted at SandalWood School for the students of Class VI to XI .

The competition brought out the talent and creativity of the students. The aesthetic sense of the students could be observed through various layouts that focused on different themes such as- Marriage Ceremonies , Jungle Book, Unity in Diversity, Musical Instruments.

Among four houses, i.e. Aravali, Himalaya, Shivalik and Vindhyachal, Vindhyachal House was declared as the Winner House.

FANCY DRESS COMPETITION 

A Fancy Dress Competition not only blends learning with fun but also develops confidence in students by giving them an opportunity to speak in front of their own classmates.

To celebrate this fun-filled learning activity, children of classes Play Group to V participated in Fancy Dress Competition on 15th April 2023. The medium could not limit the creativity of the parents who dressed children with boundless imagination.

They were dressed as little Singham as fairies, Radha, air balloons, Junk food, Ma Lakshmi etc. to name a few. Children also participated with a lot of enthusiasm and displayed their confidence while speaking. Their innocent words and stage presence won the hearts of teachers and judges.
The competition proved to be a great learning experience for the students and gave them a platform to explore their hidden talents.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY 

The Investiture Ceremony for the academic session 2023-24 was held with great pomp and dignity at Sandalwood School on 12 April, 2023
The ceremony was administered by the Honourable Principal of Sandalwood School Mrs. Sapna Kapoor.
It was held with zeal and enthusiasm. It commenced with the lighting of a ceremonial lamp.

The previous session 2022-23 Prefectorial Board handed over their responsibilities to the newly elected Prefectorial Body. They were conferred with badges and sashes
The student council took the pledge to hold the school motto in high esteem.
The Honorable Principal congratulated them and addressed them to be impartial and honest in leadership, unity, discipline and morality.

FELICITATION CEREMONY

To acknowledge and honour the students for their outstanding academic (2022-23) performance, the school hosted a felicitation ceremony in which toppers from grade 3rd to 9th were honored with awards and certificates.

Principal Mrs. Sapna Kapoor congratulated the students and teachers for securing a good percentage and encouraged them to develop their unique identity, confidence and serve humanity. She said, “If a student moves confidently in the direction of dreams and endeavors to live the life which he/she has imagined, it becomes easy to attain success.”

Sports play a major role in shaping the personality of a child. Sandalwood School conducted the Inter House Kho-Kho Competition Semi Final matches  on 2nd February, 2023 and 3rd February, 2023 respectively.

The 74th Republic Day of India and Vasant Panchami as well was celebrated at Sandalwood School on 26 January 2023 with a great sacredness and  great deal of patriotic zeal and fervor. The celebration commenced with welcome of our Honourable Director Ma’am, Respected Secretary Sir and  Principal Ma’am. 
First of all Prayer to Ma Saraswati was offered then students performed on Saraswati Vandana.
After Vasant Panchami Celebration Flag Hoisting Ceremony followed by National Anthem took place. To mark the importance of this day, a small cultural programme was organized in the school premises by all four Houses of the school.

Inter House March Past Competition

On Saturday, 15th October, 2022 Inter House March Past Competition was held in the school premises. It was divided into two groups i.e. Junior (3rd to 5th) and Senior (6th to 11th) . All four Houses were brimming with fortitude and fervor to put their best foot forward to win laurels for their house. The event was presided by the Director, Dr.(Mrs.) Nirmal Sharma, Secretary Mr. Shashi Bhushan Sharma and Principal Mrs. Sapna Kapoor. 

In Senior Group Aravali House and in Junior Group Vindhyachal House was declared as the winner house.

 

VISIT TO VIGYAN DHAM

Sandal Wood  School, Dehradun organized an educational visit  for classes 11th & 12th on 7 September, 2022 & 8 September, 2022 to Innovation Hub Laboratory, Regional Science Centre( Vigyan Dham), Dehradun.

The visit was organized to provide students with a hands-on/ practical learning in the realm of science, technology, and innovation.

Through the visit, students learned about the heritage of science as well as were enlightened about the future and growth.

 

CELEBRATION OF INDEPENDENCE DAY

On 15 August 2022. students and said that they are the future of the nation.They will be leading the country in the days coming ahead.

INTER- HOUSE MEHANDI COMPETITION

On 10 August , 2022 On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan INTER- HOUSE MEHANDI COMPETITION was conducted in Sandal Wood School Premises.

Students of class 8 to 11 took part in this competition entusiatically. They applied various alluring designs and exhibit their talent in this art form. Few girls holded the cone for the first time in their hand and applied beautiful design which caught hold the eyes of the judeges.

LUDO & CARROM COMPETITION INTRA – CLASS

On 05 August , 2022 Intra – Class Ludo and Carrom Competition was organised in Sandal Wood School Premises.

The competition was conducted under the observation of Mrs. Neetu

Students of all the classes participated with great enthusiasm in both the games.They were determined to defeat others and win.

 

RAKHI MAKING ACTIVITY/COMPETITION     

On 08 August , 2022  On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan Rakhi Making activity was conducted from Class Playgroup to 2 and Intra Class Rakhi making competition was conducted from Class 3 to 7 in Sandal Wood School Premises.

All the students enthusiastically participated in this activity/competition.Students showcased their talent.They put all their sisterly and brotherly emotions in Rakhi Making. All the Rakhis were awesome.

 

On 06 August , 2022 WORKSHOP FOR PARENTS of Classes Play Group to V was conducted in Sandal Wood School.

The topic was “Bridging The Learning Gap” (Post Corona).

After Covid -19 Pandemic parent are too worried about how behaviour and confidence have changed visibly in their children. They seem to be more irritable, their tempers seem to be more high. They are not engaging properly and they are not even working nicely as a group anymore. Some children are delayed in meeting basic milestones.

Parents were guided how to deal with the children in such conditions to make them understand the things in a better way.

This workshop was based on the theme”TOGETHER WE CAN”
The Director of the school Dr. (Mrs.) Nirmal Sharma addressed the gathering. Quothed she,” Due to pandemic, teachers and parents struggled a lot in bringing the children back on track after
Covid -19.”

The workshop through presentation was conducted by Senior- Coordinator Mrs Deepti Sharma Dogra. The topic was “Together We Can – Bridging The Learning Gap (Post Corona)
She suggested the parents to have a check on four P’s i.e. Pressure, Posture, Pencil Grip and Paper Position.
She also told the Effects of Wrong Posture which are as follows -:
1)Weak eye sight
2)Fatigue
3)Neck pain and
4)Breathing issue
The workshop was over with the Principal’s (Mrs.Sapna Kapoor) Vote of Thanks.
Quothed she,” Due to pandemic students suffered a lot. Infact it was not their fault that Corona attacked upon us.They are also trying to cope with the situation.”

On 30 July,2022 WORKSHOP FOR PARENTS was conducted in Sandal Wood School in which the parents participated with great zeal. This workshop was based on the theme
“YOU and ME makes better WE”

The Director of the school Dr. (Mrs.) Nirmal Sharma addressed the gathering. Quothed she,” Relationships with parents and families give pre-teens and teenagers emotional support, security and safety. Your support helps pre-teens and teenagers navigate the ups and downs of adolescence. You can strengthen family relationships with meals, activities, rules, meetings, rituals and responsibilities.
The workshop through presentation was conducted by Senior- Coordinator Mrs Deepti Sharma Dogra. The topic was “Understanding the Children and Teens.”
She explained the fact of –
“Connect ~ Correct~Connect”
Connection before correction is so very important. Feel connected and you are more open to kind and firm correction —especially when the children are involved in creating a solution that is respectful to everyone. It also leaves them feeling encouraged, confident, and capable.

She said that “Meal time is Feel time” means- Helping your child to think positively about eating and mealtimes . Make mealtimes fun and sociable. Enjoy eating with your child and model a non-fussy relationship with food. Research shows that parents’ eating habits can have a big influence on those of their children.

HARELA ACTIVITY 

“For in the true nature of things, if we rightly consider, every green tree is far more glorious than if it were made of gold and silver.”

On 15 July, 2022  ‘Harela’  festival was celebrated in Sandal Wood School premises, under the guidance of the Principal Mrs. Sapna Kapoor. 

Students were told the importance of trees and how to take care of them.

Quothed she, “Trees are the pillars for sustaining life on earth. Just planting the saplings and letting nature take care of the rest will not help. It is our duty as good dedicated citizens to look after these saplings and water them.

WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY

 The Sandal Wood School,Kargi Grant, Dehradun has observed a programme on’ World no tobacco day’ on 31st May 2022 to inculcate an awareness about the harmful effects of consuming tobacco.

The students through placards, posters,poems,speech and slogans highlighted the risks involved in the chewing of tobacco . Students as well as the teachers including the  principal Mrs.Sapna Kapoor,has taken a pledge to spread  the awareness for not consuming any tobacco product and contributing in saving the environment and work towards a  better tomorrow.

CULTURAL PROGRAM

The Cultural program by the students of classes PG to II in Sandal Wood School was held gorgeously in the school premises on 18 May,2022. Mrs. Sapna Kapoor, Principal of the school , presided over the function.

The program started with the chanting of Goddess Sarswati and Lord Ganesha’s Mantra. After that, the cultural events started. It was a day-long program. There were music, recitation, dancing etc.

Different classes students presented variety of programs like
Play Group students participated in fancy dress, LKG students the poem- When you happy, UKG students presented Butterfly song
Class1 students presented Rajasthani and Punjabi dances
Class 2 Girls showed the culture of Gharwal by their Garhwali dance performance and boys performed on
the song Love You Zindagi.

All the events were so exciting that the audience enjoyed them very much. At the end of the program, there was the prize-giving session. But before it, the Principal was given some time to say something.
The Principal remarked that “The practice of cultural activities will surely perfect the academic career of the students,” .

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION
India became Republic on 26 January, 1950. Since then this day is celebrated as Republic Day all over the country with great patriotic fervor. Sandal Wood School also celebrated 73rd Republic Day with the same spirit and enthusiasm by following all the Covid -19 guidelines and protocols.
Different ONLINE Activities for all students were also organised.The activities were Fancy Dress Competition for Tender Hearts, Patriotic Songs Singing And Dancing for Junior students and Poster Making/Speech on Republic Day for Senior students. Students participated with great excitement.
